Great tips for kitchen design
Designing a new kitchen? We have Some great kitchen design tips just for you
Working with our team means collaborating with a variety of Coffs Harbour industry professionals throughout the building process; all with the goal of designing a home, and spaces, that enhances your lifestyle. With over thirty years experience in designing and building custom homes on the Coffs Coast, Brian Hopwood Homes have an extensive catalogue of knowledge, and strong relationships, with local suppliers and trades that benefit our clients. This article aims to help you understand a little more about this important space in your home, and what is included in a Brian Hopwood custom kitchen design and build.
It’s all in the design of your kitchen
When you ask people what they think of when you say “kitchen” most would respond “food”. Embark on the building journey and that association can start to change. Now when you think “kitchen” there is a lot more to think about than just “food”, “should I go black tapware or chrome, drop-in sink or under-mount, glass splashback or tiles, handles or push finger?”. You eye off kitchens like they are prey, you become a kitchen sleuth and everyone is your target. This can be a good way to start to consolidate ideas for your kitchen design. This will guide you on what style suits your overall look.
First, it is important to understand what is, and isn’t, included in your kitchen. All builders work with some kind of standard inclusions, some may offer it all, while others may offer a lot less. As part of designing the kitchen for your Brian Hopwood Home, you work closely with Coffs Harbour designer Marcus Phillips of Designer Living Kitchens. An award-winning interior designer with 28 years experience, Marcus will work directly with you, providing you with one on one contact in their Coffs Harbour Showroom. We will communicate with you throughout this process, helping guide you and ensure you stay on budget.

Find inspiration, but not too much
In this digital age, we are blessed with an umpteenth amount of platforms for which to gain inspiration. Website likes Pinterest and Houzz allow you to collate images of your favourite looks while analysing your preferences and suggesting similar images to view. Whilst having these fantastic tools is a benefit be sure to find a reference point and stick to it. All too often people become frazzled with the overload of options, and move far away from their original idea, losing that reference point.
A home that is built for you
Don’t get too caught up in trends, choose features and finishes that match your personality and lifestyle! I have fallen in love with many homes because of their connection to the homeowner(s). Their personality and flare are woven through vital parts of the home and its humbling. So whilst everyone may have their opinion, stay true to you. Building with Brian Hopwood Homes is a partnership we are here to guide you through the experience as stress-free as possible.
